We’ve tried to clear all the doubts that you might have with hostels around here

We filled the form before in the so called test run. What about that?

Those forms have been cleared and the database has been reset. All new entries are now ready to go.

As of 10th May 5:30PM the database was cleared. All you have to do is click on ‘Cancel my Application’ and your application resets.

How are the hostels being alloted?

What is the minimum GPA required to get any hostel?

Well even we are un-aware about that. It depends on the number of people applying to that block.

Your guess is as good as ours!

Drop in your comments for questions we’ll keep updating this.

What happens if guys apply for 13th block, or girls for 14th?

If the allotment process is automatic, and it gets allotted, what will happen?
    Should I try my luck ? 😉

  2. Shivam says:

What should be the minimum gpa to get 14th block????????????

  3. Rajeev Ranjan says:

in hostel allotment , prefrence would be given to seniors and then comes one’s cg

  4. Yes that is true @Rajeev preference is given to seniors first and then to one GPA of the first semester.
We’ve seen that people usually dont want to change their blocks so we are assuming that first years (present batch) stands a good chance at getting the 14th and 17th blocks.

@tmaster I hope they do that man! We’ll make Manipal a co-ed hostel hell yeah! 😛

  5. avi says:

gpa cnsidered wil be my personal gpa or my n my rmmates avg gpa ????

  6. rajat says:

the hostels would be alloted on the basis of first semester or second for students of first years changing to second year?

  7. Param says:

Is cost of all hostels are changing ?

If some1 is applying alone for a double room, is there any chance that he will get senior as his room-mate ???

    • The cost of hostels have increased pretty much, compared to the last year !
It is not at all possible for you to become the room-mate of a senior, unless specially requested !

    • tmaster says:

Cost of some hostels has increased this year, the remaining ones had already increased the previous year.

The chief warden is a Sadist and would probably put in 1st year girls with 4th year guys.

  8. Siddharth says:

there we can give a preference of 10 room numbers… and not of room type… suppose we dont get the 10 rooms we applied for… but more rooms of our prefered type are available… then wat happens ? will they just allot us random rooms ???

  9. sameer says:

is a combined gpa of 7.5 enough to get a room in 9th block?

    • Last year, some students with a combined GPA of 7.3 got thru ! The competition is higher this year…
But the possibilities are pretty high ! Keep your fingers crossed !:)

    hey guys,
Im planning to join kmc, manipal this yea. I have a few doubts.
1.my manipal score is 172 out of 200. what are my chances of getting a seat?
2.Is the usage of mobiles allowed inside the campus(in the rooms atleast)?
3.can i bring my own laptop?

  16. VISHNU REDDY says:

    thanks bro,my ranks 1975.
    Are the hostel rules strict?

  17. VISHNU REDDY says:

btw…is it the for kmc as well??? because i want to join the med college

    • tmaster says:

Hostel rules are pretty lenient in the medical courses.
KMC has seperate hostels(above discussion is for MIT hostels), and they have some fantastic blocks (Chandrashekhar block comes to mind)

As for cell phones, I cannot say about the academic areas, but in the hostels, cellphone and laptop shouldnt be a problem at all.

  18. VISHNU REDDY says:

thanks man. you really were helpful.
This website is awesome….i think this can be mentioned as a parallel student portal on the official website, but that mightt screw up the fun huh?

    Hi Anirudh

I have been admitted to BBM (e-Banking and Finance) course 2011. Since there was no counselling for my course we had to send our fees demand draft and photocopies of marksheets n all. Unlike MIT, where there is counselling and also hostels are also allotted during the MIT counselling process.

I wish to know which hostels are meant for first year students? and also do you have idea about the process followed by college authorities for allotting hostels to MIC/ BBM students ( previous year process) since both of the courses didnt have counselling.

    • Very very sorry for the late response Vaibhav ! We are not pretty sure about the allotment system for MIC/BBM students ! Blocks 15, 16 and 17 are for first years.
And these are one of the best hostels in India, believe me !
Check this out for the hostel details: http://manipalthetalk.net/2011/05/11/so-which-block-should-i-shift-to/
And there have been rumors of MIC/BBM students not getting rooms in MIT hostels and all ! Infact, there is a shortage of rooms for the 3rd sem students…A lot of us here facing trouble !
Hopefully all of this will be resolved !

      • Vaibhav says:

        Thanks for your reply Anirudh.

i have read the news article related to MIC/BBM students in one of your websites. i do believe the MU authorities should have taken capacity building measures saving students, irrespective of the course enrolled, from the trouble.

I think a second or a third year BBM/MIC student can throw more light on it.
I you know someone please help me to communicate with him.
