Campuses at Manipal and Mangalore provide a cosmopolitan and congenial atmosphere in which students from over 52 countries create lifelong friendships. Manipal, a classic mix of cultures, provides a wonderful opportunity for dialogue and understanding of cultures. Students can join clubs for music and fine arts, literary pursuits, debating, robotics, electronics, motor racing and photography.

Of the second -tier institutions, MIT is one of the most prestigious(ranked as 5th top college by Outlook 2010). It’s part of sprawling network of 53 private professional colleges called the Manipal Institute of Technology (previously known as Manipal  Academy of Higher Education,MAHE) , Located on India’s south -western coast. Founded in 1953 as a medical school by Dr. Tonse Madhava Anantha Pai, the academy trains its 40,000- strong students body in everything from different branches like hotel management to software development.

MIT goes out of its way to ensure that graduates are prepared to move straight into jobs. Companies such as Motorola,Microsoft, and network storage outfit EMC Corp. often recruit Manipal students in the final weeks of their penultimate year. Once a student accepts an offer, the college creates final-year electives geared to his or her prospective job.

Infosys, TATA consultancy, Wipro and Satyam Computer Services, which together hired more than 40,000 engineers in 2004(source:MANIPAL), take such cooperarion a step further. They provide course material and train lectures on developments in areas such as chip design , radio frequency identification, and network management. The collaboration pays off in shorter in-house training once graduates become employees.

MIT focuses on all round growth while exploring the latest developments in science and technology. With state of the art facilities, experienced faculty members and a homely hostel, MIT is the definitive technical institute to be in.

As you might be aware , now everyone has a learner.manipal.edu id.

Its kinda cool…but wait wasnt it supposed to be manipal.edu? I mean gauravprakash@manipal.edu could have been something that I’ll love to show off and be proud of but learner.manipal.edu is not really something that I’d be very proud of , dont get me wrong here but I’m just saying!

I remember a few guys had a .edu id and it was all fancy and stuff.

I presume that once we pass out it would be alumni.manipal.edu!

Anyways its good that Manipal students now have a separate email id for the college accounts and other such details.

It is based on a Microsoft Outlook WebApp (Which is basically like a Outlook Messenger Online) when I read in the letter to go to live.com I figured – Its going to be on a hotmail kinda thing and I was all excited about it!

But here is how it looks like
